Hoquiam Middle School

If your child still is in need of a Chromebook, Monday, January 24, we have staff available to issue those. Beginning at 8:00 a.m., staff will be available at the main front entrance to issue Chromebooks to you. There is a form that must be completed (1 minute to fill out). It is required to check out the device. If you have any questions please call 360-538-8220.

Athletic Testing: Because our MS players are not on campus until 1/31, we need to add the extra component of being tested BEFORE a practice or contest with PMG on Monday, Wednesday or Friday at Hoquiam High School in the Lower Admin area. PMG is at HHS 3:00-7:00pm on Monday, Wednesdays and Fridays. Unfortunately PMG is not testing at the Middle School during our virtual time. Coaches will be communicating their respective practice times and games through Remind. Please make sure you are in your son's Remind account. Remote Learning Information for HMS - 1/21/22 - 1/31/22 Middle School students and families can access the complete remote learning schedule and links to their teachers remote classes by following this link https://www.hoquiam.net/o/hms/page/hms-remote-learning In person learning/support will still be provided on a limited bases to predetermined groups of students such as students with disabilities, 504, EL, etc. you can contact the building principal or your child's case manager for further information. Door-to-door transportation will continue for those students to get in person support during remote learning. Students will be emailed copies of the bell schedule, zoom links and Google Classroom codes.

Hoquiam Middle School will transition to remote learning beginning 1/21/20 and return to in person learning on 1/31/22. Middle School students and families can access important information regarding remote learning on our district website www.hoquiam.net IF students forgot, or need a device but haven't turned in paperwork for a new chromebook, we are available for device pickup, or in special cases delivery. Community Based testing at Hoquiam High School has been cancelled for tonight due to staffing shortages with our community testing partner PMG. We will update Friday if there are any changes.

Reminder: No School for Monday, January 17 in honor of the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. holiday. Also for planning purposes, Monday, January 24, is an 11:05 a.m. early release for HMS as staff around the district have professional development on that day.

Hoquiam School District will be closed January 7th. There will be no athletics or after school school activities. School will resume on Monday, January 10th.

**UPDATE**Hoquiam School District will be releasing students an hour early today, in order to get students home before the tide crests. HMS will release at 1:35 pm. Please stay safe and as dry as possible this afternoon.

Hoquiam Middle School parents--if you are dropping your student off this morning, PLEASE do NOT come into the front parking area. The water is deep. Please drop off on Spencer Street and have students take the sidewalks into the building. If your student walks, boots strongly recommended.

We are two hours late today. School will start at 10:05 due to local flooding.

Due to icy road conditions this morning across the district followed by the expected tidal flooding around mid day the decision has been made to CANCEL SCHOOL for today Tuesday January 4th. All schools and programs in Hoquiam will be closed/canceled for today. Thank you

Tuesday January 4th Hoquiam School District will be operating on our regularly scheduled half day schedule we use for Team Mondays with schools in the district dismissing early. Dismissal Times by Building: Emerson - 11:15 am Lincoln - 11:20 am Central - 11:25 am HMS - 11:05 am HHS - 11:00 am This decision has been made due to significant impact to our community from tidal flooding that is expected to reach its peak at 2pm. There will be no preschool programs and after school activities have been cancelled including athletics. Students will be provided a breakfast and lunch. The community Vaccination Clinic and PMG Testing are also cancelled. We will reschedule the vaccination clinic and make that announcement as soon as possible. Hoquiam School District has partnered with Premier Medical Group and is offering Covid testing at HHS Gym TODAY from 10:30am-12:00pm. Testing is free and requires a registered account with PMG. This site is open to any one needing to be tested and not just students. Children under 18 will need to have a parent/guardian present to complete registration. If you are already registered with PMG there is no need to register again.
