Leadership Class
Leadership class for HMS students gives the opportunity to learn and exercise leadership skills. The program focuses on two components:
Learning about leadership in the classroom
Practicing leadership under teacher direction
Classroom learning: We present models of great leadership as students study the characteristics and accomplishments of great leaders in history. Students learn about and are shown how to develop their own innate potential to become great young men and women.
Practicing leadership: As children learn responsibility by having opportunities to practice meaningful responsibility here at HMS, these opportunities will focus on and allow practice following several guiding principles. They will work with the ASB officers and others as they give back to their school in service. These realms of meaningful school responsibility include, but are not limited to having the students assist as:
Librarians, office helpers, janitorial helpers, and managers of inspirational hallway bulletin boards.
