A Warm Greeting:

Every Friday, our high school Grizzly football players have been joining our staff greeting our young students as they enter the playground and at the bus drop off area. Our staff also greets every student every day at the classroom door as well. We feel it is so important to ensure every child has a great sense of belongingness at school.  We are fortunate to celebrate the fact we can partner with the middle school and highschool in so many ways to serve our students!

“Boots for Bears”:

A group of Hoquiam citizens are working to provide boots for our students as we go outside to play rain or shine on a daily basis. Research shows that outside play is vital to kids' physical and mental health, even if the weather is wet. Students always have an option of the covered area during recess.

We Welcome Parent Volunteers:

Please consider volunteering at Emerson. Our parents are the best partners for helping our students in the learning process. In addition to helping in the classroom, many of our enrichment activities, traditions, swimming lessons, field trips and other exciting things at school hinge on parents volunteering to join us in educating students.  If you are able to volunteer one hour, one day or on a regular basis, you can make a difference for our students.  Contact the office or your child’s teacher to get necessary paperwork for volunteering.

Hand Hygiene:

As we focus on teaching good hygiene at school it is important to review hand washing as the number one way to prevent the spread of infections.  Please discuss with your child about washing hands with soap and counting to 20 as they scrub all surfaces.  Be sure to review with them to wash their hands often, before eating and especially after using the restroom. For more information and resources on hand hygiene, please visit www.cdc.gov/handhygiene.

Autodialer and facebook page

Please make sure your phone number has been updated, if it has changed, to ensure you get all necessary communication from the school. Many pieces of current information will be immediately posted to our facebook page.  This is a great way to stay informed about Emerson systems, parent information, and to see great things your child is doing at school.

Please remember to call the office if your child is absent 538-8240.
